Normally the winter semester starts in October and the summer semester starts in April. For october normally the deadlines are till July 15th and for Summer Semester the deadlines are till January 15th.
But students should try to submit their applications as early as March 15th for the winter semester and November 15th for the Summer semester.
Note: However it should be noted that because of good amount of time required for the visa application the students should submit their university applications earlier and also the competitive universities have earlier deadlines in some cases almost one year ahead of the the start of the program. And it is also the same for DAAD scholarship.
The last application deadlines for summer semester semester is January 15th and for winter semester is July 15th. Individual university or individual programs may have their own deadlines.
English taught Master programs (Public universities)
- Normally the deadlines for English taught master programs at public universities is around April/May for the winter semester and around October/November for the Summer Semester.
- This is because the selection process for the Master programs are lengthy and can take time in addition to the additional 6 to 8 weeks time period for visa application process.
English taught Master programs (Private universities)
- The deadlines for English taught Master programs at private universities are more or less similar to public universities in Germany but in most cases a slight late application around June/July for the October Intake is usually possible because the offer turn around time is much lower at private universities.
- However, it is highly recommended to apply as early as possible even if you are applying for studying at a private university in Germany and you should allow yourself some time to learn German language.
However, students must submit their application early enough given the amount of time required for the application processing and time required for visa application at the German Embassy Kathmandu.
